Cellular Blinds have a Classic Look

"Get these cellular blinds because they're cheap!"

Are you familiar with cellular blinds? They became very popular in the 1990’s but then went away with the advent of wooden slat types. However, just like everything else relating to popularity, you’ll note that these things go in cycles. If you like the look of these very light curtains, then you’re luck, because they are absolutely making a comeback. Part of the reason that they began to lose popularity towards the end of the 1990s is the fact that they are not very flashy. They’re simple, functional, and inexpensive. People that feel the need to show off to others don’t appreciate these qualities. However, people that are mostly concerned about value do.

When people started to realize that the very lightweight honeycomb were cheap to buy, extremely easy to repair, and could often be purchased on a huge discount, they started taking advantage. Conveniently for them, the economy started to decline at the same time that the desire to be flashy and over the top disappeared. Suddenly, people were starting to like plain colors like gray, white, and black. Suddenly, people didn’t necessarily want brand names like Hunter Douglas or Kirsch. Suddenly, people were cleaning up their acts.

Isn’t it amazing how this works? One day, your window has to ornately covered. The next day, it just has to have a functional covering over it. You might be wondering to yourself, though, this one question. If these cellular blinds were once popular, then unpopular, and are now once again popular, how long will it be until they are out of style again?  You shouldn’t worry about that. You don’t need fancy custom motorized shades just because they’re popular, do you? As long as they are doing their job (giving you privacy when you need it and blocking out unwanted sun), what more does it matter? I know that aesthetics are important, but you have to consider the fact that no one really looks at the blinds. That’s the truth.
